I like the blurred caulis in the background. But there is a white spot almost in the center of the image which catches my eyes and distracts from the essential. I would set the focal point on the forground leaves because of the structure of the leaves.
Maybe give it another try and put your camera on a tripod and take ISO 100, so you'll get more sharpness. Make the room almost dark and use a shuttertime about 10 sec. Then take a smart phone and use the display light (not the torch light) to lighten the plant. So you can play with shadows and lights in the image.

I think it's time to buy even the simplest tripod, it is not possible to make a satisfying photo from hand in all conditions. Thank you:)
