Lucky Eider?

This makes me so angry! Some careless, irresponsible fisher has discarded their line, which got tangled on the old jetty and then on this poor Eider duck.

I only noticed that it was tangled when I got home about an hour later. I went back to see if it was still there with the intention of phoning the SSPCA if it was still there and alive. It was gone and there was no sign of it nearby. Hopefully it will be fine.

vera poor duck! I've never seen this sort of duck!

craig I only noticed it when I uploaded the photo. They are true sea ducks and normally only come in when they are breeding.

craig I agree I think it must have got free, hopefully without injury.

Katrina Yu This is actually the saddest fact about the marine life. Eating plastic, the fish hooks etc2. It's just so irresponsible and sad.

craig I agree and whilst this one may have lived to see another day (they are quite powerful ducks) many more will not.

craig I searched the area around but did not see it. It may be injured but it seems to have escaped.
