Hartpury Church is a typically English village church, in a delightfully rural and unspoilt location.
One its claims to fame is this mid-19th century bee hive shelter. It was built by a local stonemason in Nailsworth, and originally located at that town's police station. In the 1960s the police station closed, and the shelter was threatened with destruction. Fortunately it was saved by volunteers from the Gloucestershire Beekeeping Association, dismantled and reassembled in Hartpury. Each of the sections of the shelter can hold a traditional 'basket-style' bee hive.
