The moment my daughter finds out she got 2nd place in the 100m free finals.

When you watch Olympics on the TV, you tend to think that everyone but the gold medal winner is a loser, and when an athlete says that the mere participation is a reward and an honor in and by itself, it's just politically correct self-congratulating. But it is true. With 1300 swimmers and 25 teams participating, every 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th place finish is an accomplishment, and a silver medal is a huge deal. The team finished 4th, even though it had its sights set on the 3rd. The top two spots were undisputed.
