You perhaps heard of Manhattanhenge - those days when the setting sun appears aligned to the grid of the streets of Manhattan, giving awesome photo opportunities.
It can happen in other cities too - and here, in Palermo, it happens in one of the most ancient streets, Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
During a few days in February, you can see the sun setting behind the eastern door of the city, Porta Felice, while you are standing at the seaside.
And during a few days in July, you can see the sun rising from the sea in front of Porta Felice while you are standing at the cross marking the centre of the old town.
Today I tried to capture that moment, but passing clouds, cars, light poles and railings made it very difficult to get the perfect shot, so this is the best I could get.
(Sorry, I first wrote that the rising sun alignment happens on May - I was wrong, it happens on July)
