Daniel Zaleski Hello Ian, sorry for my late reply but I've been quite busy over the weekend. I do not have any experience with the large format photography. Though I dream about acquiring LF camera sometime in the future. If I go this way 8x10 will be my choice (for practical reasons - I do not have 4x5 enarger and do not plan buying one), with 8x10 you can do contact prints easily and the resulting photo is already quite big. Consider the following: 1) Negatives - start with cheap negatives - I would suggest Fomapan 100. 2) Negative development - you will need special tank or develop in tray (tray = darkroom is neccessary) or have it developed in lab (costs). 3) Scanning - either DIY by digital camera or special scanner or in lab (costs). 4) Printing - contact printing in darkroom or outsourced printing from digital scan files or in lab darkroom. For initial experience I would suggest bying small box of negatives, outsource development and scanning in the lab. Then consider if this is fulfilling and worth your time - then buy the necessary equipment for home processing, it will be much cheaper in mid and long term).
Daniel Zaleski If you wish I can give you some contacts for other Swiss MF and LF photographers from my IG account.
Ron Dadoo ah non, pas encore d'expérience dans ce format...
Ian Prince Thanks Daniel for all these useful tips. I think I'll take your advice and take things slowly.
And yes, that would be great if you can send me via private message some of your Swiss MF contacts. Thanks!
