This is part of my team at work. 2/3 will be gone by March 1 as part of the "Strategic Sourcing" initiative.
I am a big believer in taking the photos that someone asks for -- as opposed to cracks in the pavement, flowers, statues, sunsets and random strangers we all are fond of photographing. I knew they would want a photo, and I brought my "good" camera and a tripod. As I fumbled with the controls (always!) to activate live view, I decided to focus at the eye level then raised the camera and tilted it down, approximating the framing. The background was overexposed, so I pulled the highlights 94% back in Lightroom. I adjusted the curve to get the faces nice and light (maybe the dark skinned gentleman further in the shade did not get much of a benefit), and juiced the blacks and the contrast just a bit. Overall, a much better photo than the ones I have taken at the same location before with an iPhone, which is supposed to be optimized for bad light. Got the "thanks, Mr. Photographer" back, which is all I can ask for.
