I'm conflicted.
The other day in a community Facebook group, a First-Time cottage renter asked a question about the fire ban. They want to know if the ban was still in effect after the previous day's rain.
Normally, I wouldn't be bothered by a question like that, and would even use it as an opportunity to talk about the FWI system, forest ecology, and the affect of mismanaged forests. However, something they said rubbed me the ring way...
They said their kids were devastated that they couldn't have a camp fire.
Devastated.
Really?
Sure, it was probably just hyperbole, but I don't care. One careless fire, one entitled asshat, and "honest" mistake and the forest goes up like a tinderbox.
I wish folks would do some research before getting themselves into situations they aren't prepared for.
<<Sigh>>
Okay, I've run out of steam on this rant.
Here's a picture of a sign reminding folks about the state of things.
Nutt Good rant!! Must admit I don’t suffer fools gladly either… 😂
