Young Grey Heron

I had to go up to the loch early today as I was expecting a delivery. The young one spotted me and was straight over to one of the clearings! It was quite busy on the path at one point and the young one took off to the middle of the loch. I waited until it got quieter and was just about to head a secluded clearing she uses, when she flew back! Even though she gets a treat It is really quite a privilege that she comes over to see me when her instinct must be telling her not to.

Bruce It would be funny to see the reactions of all the people walking around when they realize the heron knows you personally :-)

craig In the very early days, when she was less timid of people, she once flew right over and landed in front of me as I was passing the picnic area. I fed her and she left and a small crowd that were sitting at the picnic area started to clap!
