As part of the Weekly Photo Challenge over on r/clondon52, we were prompted to talk about our passions. So, here we go:
-
Photography (gee, that's a surprise): THREE cameras were involved with this image. The Canon 6D with the long lens, the cellphone (still haven't used it this year), and a Fuji FinePix XP80 (used not only for taking group photos at work, but also for taking this photo in particular.
-
Friends: While it's been a while since I've seen them, they remain in my thoughts. The canoe (above the note card) was a gift from a mentor. The TTC token (also above the note card) was from a visit to Toronto years back to visit my One Friend (and yes there is a story there and maybe I'll tell it one day).
-
How to role model appropriate technology usage: The smart phone is everywhere and (baring some Hollywood EMP event) are here to stay (like it or not). My working theory is that kids have never seen someone role model the appropriate use of this technology. Not grand standing "Look at me, I am putting down my phone and (fake) paying attention to the happenings that are going on". Kids need this guidance. As an Outdoor Educator it's my passion to help them find it.

I like stories. I like short stories and long stories and stories that don't seem to go anywhere. I like scary stories, and fantastical stories, and stories that make you think. I like telling stories and I like being told stories. My Pip Boy Bobble Head reminds me of all the stories I've told/been told and all the stories yet to come.
*Finding the Familiar in the Strange and the Extraordinary in the Everyday. Twenty some-odd years back I was challenged to come up with a personal mission statement. There it is. The Turkey feather and the coffee mug... which it the familiar and which is the extraordinary.
