Holi in Mathura (2015): group of women

Final piece of this series... this was taken at Dauji Temple near Mathura, where men move orbit the temple in a large courtyard throwing water on women standing on the sides, and women retaliate by tearing their shirts of and whack them with wet shirts.

tigg It does sound as if Holi is one of the more fun festivals. Tell me Mihir, do you join at all - obviously not with camera in hand - or is it just a small part of the population?

Mihir I went last year, this year i did not play Holi as i was not well. It is a major festival just like Diwali and is celebrated pan India, but the best Holi is celebrated in Mathura and Vrindavan. Over there it is celebrated over a month and every major temple has a different tradition.
