edible glitter freaks me out

I got a fun themed drink and didn't realize until I received it that "fairy dust" wasn't a cutesy list of the ingredients, they meant edible glitter, which I steadfastly avoid consuming because come on there's no way that's actually ok for you! ITS FRIGGEN PLASTIC RIGHT? I don't know. I don't trust it. I even looked it up and what I found did not reassure me. xD Anyway, I drank half of it and it tasted great but I just couldn't do the rest mentally worrying what the heck am I putting in my body?? The cup was cute though so kept it for the sticker, and saw this dried up clod of glitter at the bottom as I took the sticker off. Feeling better about not putting this in my body. Oof. Any culinary experts who can explain this to me????
