Romain great detail @craig

tania So so sharp ! Much better that what I'm doing at the moment. And I know how gulls are difficult to catch...

craig Thank you Tania, very Kind!

Alek Jedliński Great sharpness craig!

Kateli I must agree with @tania, very sharp shot !! What are your settings apart from the ones noted above ?

craig Hi I am not sure what other settings you are interested in. I think it is really a mix of settings and technique. I tend to have my 70-300 lens permanently fixed to my camera. I usually have a fast shutter speed of 1/800 or more depending on what I am shooting (Tern are often better faster) . I use shutter priority mode on my camera as I have enough on my hands focusing the shot. I then select a bird and track it whilst zooming in. When I am happy I take the shot. There was a strong wind with this shot so the gulls were fighting it or gliding so I dropped the shutter speed a lot as they were slower than normal. Hope this helps a bit.

Kateli Yep, it does ! I'm going to try again when I get back down to the lake. I've found that the light has been so bleak in the mornings (when I usually go and take photos) that I've not been able to capture anything with such a fast speed !! Thank you @craig !
