a new bamboo stalk

The bamboo shoot (tookapic.com/photos/305586 ) from March 12 is now a teenager, still reaching up and growing, shedding its outer sheaths to reveal a translucent green stalk, section by section. Although I was tempted to harvest the shoot for some homegrown stir-fry, I refrained, and I'm glad I did. It looks like this year I'll have three new stalks in my emerging bamboo grove.
