Rafal Laczynski It's a big one :-)
Ian Prince Great to see old machines being repaired! Especially as more recent ones are not built to last. Sigh. Great hacker news discussion on exactly this here: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7...

When I bought this, people were throwing out old things. For example, people were replacing large bodies, even if they can prolong life by replacing small parts-brushs of motor, small valve-. There were lots of big trashs that seem to be usable yet.
Within that kind of atmosphere, washing machines made in Japan have shortened assumed usage period on design.
I do not want to replace body immediately, I bought this which I can use for a long time although it consumes a lot of electric power.
HOWEVER, since March 11, 2011, we realized that the electricity we used as usual is causing a huge nuclear contamination.
So, if there was an invention of a washing machine that can dramatically reduce electricity consumption, I will switch to that.
Thank you for introducing valuable discussion @Ian :)
Rafal Laczynski Great! "Electrolux washing machine for 19 years!" Good brand! :-)
