I have become a regular listener of the TFTTF podcast and decided to participate in their photo challenge, the theme being bokeh. My toy Fotasy N35 lens, produces a delicious swirly bokeh, though not at all apertures. The aperture changes continuously, as far as I can tell, it does not click from 1.7 to 2, to 2.8, etc. I think 2.8 is where it's at, but it is possible that this one was shot wide open (f/1.7). I either missed the focus or my hand twitched -- and I love the effect. I applied the Restoration Software LR preset I downloaded from the flamboyant Trey Ratcliff. The presets are flamboyant, too. I have only successfully used three from the pack of 11, and I use this one on all of my nature shots that I make in bright light, often shooting into the light. It is a little gimmicky, but I am very happy with the results. My camerawork, the temperamental lens and a bold preset combine to produce rather enjoyable results. See for example tookapic.com/photos/540525 and tookapic.com/photos/537976. Every time I go shooting for Tookapic (and now also TFTTF), I make quite a few of these sunny images, and it's not easy to pick just one. The rest are going into an album. and perhaps I will work up to a book (Shutterfly, say).
