Katrina Yu I am so excited for you that you are making yourself as a subject for your art. There is just something so precious in doing self-portraits (in my opinion). The time you've spent with yourself alone, to understand and to see yourself in a new way is something I've treasured these many days.

It might appear as just a simple portrait photography in the beginning but later on, I hope you get to see yourself as an actor and that you're telling stories through you.

Can't wait to see more of this series and how this progress! Goodluck, Vera.

vera Thank you so much Katrina for your support😃😘! You're really a specialist of the self portrait, as you say you tell stories and so poetic stories that you share with us! I love it! Once I would be happy to try to tell some story, I mean something more constructed, staged, but just now it seems to me that you need a lot of time to make it... Am I right?

Katrina Yu Haha, thank you, Vera but I won't say I'm a specialist rather I have moved from the thoughts of "oh i need to look pretty" angle into "I need to work on my acting" in front of the camera! :p Self-portraiture art can be very subjective because everyone tells things differently.

Your mirror shots totally reminded me of Vivien Maier's self-portraits (have you heard of her? You should check out her gallery ->) vivianmaier.com/gallery/self-p...
She takes her reflection on a mirror/reflective surface to show a different side of her. It's just that simple but the way she positions herself or composed the whole image is just beautiful. That is how she tells her story, I believe.
Mirrors are always very interesting!!

Also, there's Mickael Jou who also does self-portrait and tells his story through dance: instagram.com/mickael_jou

I think everyone has their way of telling their stories. It took me quite a long time to realize how I want to tell mine too. I'm sure you'll have so much fun in discovering something special in this new angle!! I'm excited for you. <3

vera Thanks a lot for the links ! I looked and the work of Viven Maier is really impressive ! She made it in another time! She probably was a precursor! And a big thank you for your support! I'm a little afraid that I won't be able to do what I want, but it's a help to read your words!😘👌🏼

tania Perfect Véra ! It’s gonna be a great series... love your funny face here 😉

vera Thanks Tania! I think it will be funny for me too!💫😜

vera Oh thanks a lot for your support Craig! Exploring a new way is not exactly easy, especially at the beginning! But I'm feeling it would be nice, interesting and funny!😃

Bruce Great photo Vera! - self-portraits tell a story about the subject, and in the end that is what I like most about them. Well done and good luck with your series, and I for one am looking forward to seeing it! :-)
