Krzysztof Maciejewski Well, I like it and in my opinion this is art. Apps are simply tools, we are using. So with Prisma and with NightCap. There are, of course, traditionalists who treat even retouching or color correction as a mortal sin. I'm not one of them...

ponzu Thank you!

Kateli I really like it. It caught my eye scrolling through today's photos. Art, that's what I would call it. I believe that one takes a photo with a phone or a camera and then you edit it to make it look like what you want it to. I love abstract shots !

ponzu Thank you. Obviously, I like it, too. I also like five or six or seven other versions that Prisma created for me after I did the initial work. Each one looks very different. And that is part of my doubt. Can I be proud of this "art" piece if I did not control the process of creation? If I did not put a lot of work into it and sort of just got lucky? I was inspired in part by a photographer who has Parkinson's disease and takes photos of light sources while letting his hands shake, even amplifying the tremors for artistic effect. His works are celebrated, and he has been profiled in media. Many other photographers with PD have started doing it, too, so I could not even track down the original photographer I heard about for the purpose of this comment. Photographers with PD sell their photos in galleries, see abc.net.au/news/2015-09-12/par... Is it art? Probably. Do I have a license to create my own art using their technique if I don't suffer from the same condition? Would I have come up with this idea on my own? I don't have the answers. But I will continue doing this when it's nighttime and I don't have a legitimate Tookapic shot :)

Kateli I think it's great that they've inspired you ! A part of you is in your photo... you could have erased it ! Instead, you liked it and went further with it !!!
I have done a few too...
"Abstract lights..."
"Night lights..."
"Abstract..."
"Light painting..."
I don't know if you can take a look by copying these links ?
Each photo is unique anyway !!
Take care.

ponzu As you can see, URL turn into convenient links in the post. Tookapic is smart that way.

Kateli Yep I saw that afterwards after publishing the message. I was relieved !!
