Warning: (long) scary photographer story ahead! This shot was kind of more of a test than anything else. Those playing at home may remember me getting this shot of a wind surfer on Friday (tookapic.com/photos/612834) - about 5-10 minutes after this shot, the lens was covered in water. Not because I dropped it in the ocean (although I am that clumsy), but because it got splashed with water from a tap. Yep. Pretty boring.
Unfortunately the water was horrifically dirty, and the rest of the day was spent using my phone for anything photographic as the lens developed really bad condensation - to the point that it took overnight to dry out (over 12 hours) ... and the next day, while it was dry, the entire inside of the lens was covered in what looked like oil and grit and general yuck. My beautiful brand new Sony FE 24-105. :(
Mentally I wrote off the lens and went off to film the fireworks using my 24-240.
Imagine my surprise when I had a look at the lens yesterday and ... it's all gone. It looks like a beautiful brand new lens again. Maybe the lens fairy came to visit?
So yeah. Today's shot was more of a test to see if indeed the lens is back to normal. I'm a bit mystified over how that happens - there was definitely a lot of dirt inside the lens. Where did it all go?
