It looks only main keep is very old, other building is relatively new.
I think it wasn't built as Defence Base as vera's Château de Chillon.

Terry Artt It was originally built as a defensive castle with the keep at the centre but as it developed into a residential castle the keep was the only part that remained and the outer walls reduced. The town developed outside the castle whereas with Chillon no town ever developed around it so its defensive walls have always remained.
