Bruce It's actually pretty easy; give it a try :-) I shot at 12800 ISO and rested my camera on the roof of my car :-). I'd recommend a tripod though. Even just a small one to keep the camera still would work.

Bruce Interestingly, one of the constellations stars, Betelgeuse (not to be confused with the movie!) is a Red Giant, and is almost as big as our solar system.
