One thousand days.
That's how long I've been doing my Picture-a-Day project on tookapic. Some days have been incredible while others have been totally uninspired. Some days I have printed and shared and even submitted for competition while others I'll post online and never think of 'em again.
It seems like a long time, but not really. It's only 2 Years, 8 Months, 3 Weeks, and 5 Days.
Jamie Livingston was a photographer (among other things). I first heard of Jamie on some website (something kinda clickbaity, before clickbait was a thing). Using an old school Polaroid camera (a SX-70 for what it's worth) he took a photo a day for 6, 784 days. His project started on Saturday, March 31st, 1979 and ended with his death (due to cancer) some eighteen and half years later, on Saturday, October 25th, 1997.
I forget how the original collection of photos was discovered, whether it was in a box or friends or something. But that sense of... discovery. Of being that person to find this mystery and begin to dig into it deeper and deeper. There is something very appealing in that.
I don't know what I'll be doing in 1,000 days let alone 6,000., but I do know that I've enjoyed the journey so far.
