Young Grey Heron

The young one flew to meet me this morning she stood until I drew level (I noticed how much bigger she is compared to when I first saw her). She had a single bit of sardine then flew to the water edge to join the older female and wait for me making my way across. . I fed them both and gave some to the 5 crows. The two males were waiting at the other end. I worked out how to get more to the young male by giving the older one longer straggly bits of pollock. It takes him a bit longer to eat it and I can get about 3 or 4 smaller bits to the young male by the time he has finished.

tigg I have not looked back, but do you ever miss a day with these herons? And do you go at about the same time every day?

craig I Have missed 1 day whilst I was waiting on a Covid test result. The young female also disappeared for a couple of months then suddenly reappeared and landed in front of me as I was walking round the loch. We are about to go on holiday in a couple of weeks so I will be away for 5 days. I have little doubt that they will still come over when I return but it may take a few days. I tend to go at roughly the same time every day. If I am late I just walk around until they spot me.
