Ostermundigen and the Moon

Even if it sounds and looks as if the village had something to do with the moon, there seems to be no etymological connection. Ostermundigen is the eastern Mundigen (in the Middle Ages there was probably also a western Mundigen). I hoped the moon would rise behind the village, but had almost given up when it still did not show up 30 minutes after 'official' moonrise time. But of course it takes some time to climb up these almost 3000 meters high mountains! ;-) #moon #mountains #town #urban
