I took a pic of a small part of a bigger group portrait with two St. Bernard dogs on the St. Bernard pass, where the dogs were bred as rescue dogs. I liked the fact that the dogs are not so well visible because despite of their gentle nature the dogs didn’t want to sit still. We visited t ‚Barryland‘ today, a museum dedicated to these dogs that are a national symbol of Switzerland. The exhibition is about history, myths, these dogs role as an advertisement mascot and nowadays as a social therapy dog.
In the upper floor of this very new museum (opened last summer) there are four rooms for dogs with a garden for each room, the dogs can roam freely and choose when they want to be inside or go outside and if they want to be seen or prefer to hide. They preferred to sleep indoors when we were there, it was cold and shadowy outside. There is also a dog physiotherapy room where one of the older dogs, Barry V, was being dried after a water therapy. He was obviously enjoying it and appeared very relaxed.
I blame myself for not remembering the name of the original photographer.
