Urszula Stachowicz I've just imagined shopping in the dark. :D Well, I always thought that it is good to have certain style that everyone will recognise. It's interesting what you're saying. I love photos with umbrellas. And your raindrops are so cartoonish, love this effect: )

Katrina Yu Thank you so much!! This effect is fun to create, I was quite surprised that I'm digging it so much.

Oh my gosh, I feel like I'm going to write a really long one about a style that everyone will recognize.

Don't read after this line if you don't feel like it. 😆 😔

I've talked about this with someone last year and I want to share with you my thoughts on this because, maybe, you take wedding photos for a living and emotions is definitely something important in this area.

My absolute fav wedding photographer is Jonas Peterson, he always makes me cry with just his images and this is why I can never forget him.

I have nothing against finding a certain “style” for being recognizable.
But there is a difference between an image being just a beautiful picture vs being an art.

Art is something people keep going back to because they feel something in it (even if they are not the most beautiful).

What I want is for my images to be a reflection of myself, not my skill, to see the story that I'm telling.
I sacrifice hours to edit my photographs but people really don’t care how long it takes to make them but rather on how enjoyable it is to go through my work.

When I show my work I want to show the ideas, personalities, and feelings that I wanted to portray.
Not how I handle Photoshop, perspectives, or even mixing of colors. These are technical skills that can be picked up along the way.

I want to create and convey ideas to another person through images hoping they see the WHY behind the image.
To be able to make someone feel something, very much like a great writer being able to create worlds that don’t exist.

So instead of being recognizable by a certain color, tone, technique…etc.
I’d rather be recognized as someone who makes you feel.

If we spend our time chasing after that perfect preset or copying that beautiful tone then I think we're chasing after the wrong thing.

Popular doesn't always mean it's worthwhile, doesn't always mean it's memorable.
To be memorable, by letting the viewer feel something, is what's going to set you different from the crowd.

After all, people will always remember how you made them feel.

Just like how I can never forget Jonas Peterson despite seeing tons of wedding images more beautiful than his.

tl;dr: At the end of the day, you want to be recognized by how you make people feel not with technical style.

Katrina Yu Thank you, Beata. The splash on the feet is my favorite too! Like something from a comic :D

Kateli Love the ease and the comfortable position you are in ! I can't be that easy to make a great photo !! Take care, xxx.

Katrina Yu Thank you, Kateli. Well, the secret here is movement. I don't think anyone can pose looking so comfortable on the spot. I was skipping all the time just so the camera can capture that single frame that evokes what I need :D (Part of the fun 😉) ❤️

Kateli Great idea !! You're just so creative !!! xxx
