Joe Fortin Fair question.
When I applied I wasn't very happy with my work life. I was stressed, failing at what should have been simple tasks (receipts, data input... a bunch of administrative tasks), and generally had lost my passion for what I do. I'm a Field Naturalist by training and an Outdoor Educator by profession.
About a year or so ago, I had applied for (and was ultimately accepted into) the Geographic Information System program at the local college. The GIS program was my back-up plan.
In June of this year I had a sit-down meeting with two top folks at work. This meeting was to ask for clarity about a rumored Administrative Assistant role being created. At this meeting I also had a Letter of Resignation ready in case the meeting went south. Needless to say, things did't go south (I'm still here).
In the last two days (!) there's been a couple of meetings to not only confirm the creation of the AA job, but I've been moved over into a Program Manager position (more time doing what I'm good at).
Anne Thank you for the comprehensive reply, I was truly interested. It's really good to hear how good things turned out!
Joe Fortin My pleasure. :)
Anne Why did you turn it down, if I could ask?
