Policy of Tookapic stock was changed?

Is the free downloads obsolete now?

Paweł Kadysz Yes. Last week have sent an email about this to every single tookapic user. We informed you that we'll no longer be offering free photos.

I'm just going to paste the email here:

---

"Starting next week all photos released on stock.tookapic.com (both free and paid) will be available for stock photos paid subscribers. We are also removing the free license. All photos on stock.tookapic.com will be paid.

If you publish your photos under license other than All Rights Reserved and you don't want your photos to be available for stock photos subscribers - you can remove your photos from stock.tookapic.com here: tookapic.com/account/mass-edit.... Your photos will stay safe on tookapic.com but won't be available for purchase.

We're also changing the way you'll be paid for your photos. The rate for single photo sale will be dynamic and will be counted at the end of the month. It'll depend on the number of subscriptions, unique number of all photos purchased and unique number of purchases of your photos. It'll also include tookapic's 60% commission.

Your current earnings balance remains unchanged. Stock photos subscription will be $59/mo and will grant unlimited access to all photos released at stock.tookapic.com."

---

I hope that helps.

Paweł Kadysz So a customer walks into a car dealership and finds a car he likes. But what? $30.000! I want it for free! So he walks out, finds same car parked in the street, breaks the window and drives away.

What you described is a theft.

Satoshi T The way @rico_et22 says is meaningless for me if I try to be a theft of original image. I know that even if I save the photo from the member page (not Tookapic Stock) by the browser function, it is much more compressed than the original.

Satoshi T I may have been fundamentally misunderstood. As a way of thinking Pawel, $59/mo originally assumes the design company to spend it expensively for promotion. On the other hand, if a member of 365project who want to use other member's pic on a personal blog, Pawel assumed he/she should using the embedded link obtained by "</>" ? In that case, if that personal blog becomes "Hot entry" and access is concentrated, will the serious impact on Tookapic's site performance?

Paweł Kadysz It would have to get really, really popular to affect tookapic's performance. And with the embed code it's additional promotion for tookapic and the author of the photo.

Satoshi T If it has effect for promotion for both of Auther and Tookapic, and there is little influence on performance of Tookapic site, It is appropriate to use embedded code "</>" for personal weak blogs... so, In this way, I should consider "</>" plays a role of former Tookapic-Lisence for free download "Please put Author and Link" .

Alek Jedliński Good to know. Any reasons for the change?

Satoshi T About 2 years ago I got information about Tookapic in some Japanese blogs say "Awesome site that gathers wonderful CC0 pics taken by amature photographers" - in Japan some sites still introduce Tookapic as a CC0 photo site until Now-.

After that, I joined. At that time, there ware paid pics and free pics which licensed under CC0.

"Vader's daily life" broke great, and the name value went up at a stretch.
However, Free photos gathered up by bots like bulldozers, It came to see the familiar pics on unknown curated photo sites.

After that, -I imagine- Pawel decided to stop CC0 and changed to Free pics under "Tookapic-License" to specify Author name or link to original.

When I asked question on this topic -Feb.2017- , the Free download was abolished and went the only subscription for $59/mo.

I think that Pawel aimed at two things and priced $59/mo. Purpose of bringing stable income to Tookapic and To sell pics to large companies and truncate weak small bloggers who have no money ...

However, I think that users of Tookapic-stock are not only large companies. It seems that it became difficult to reach people who are doing less profitable blogs ...

I propose to be able to exchange pics with friends with cheaper pricing as Hero member's 'shareholder benefits' ... but it should not be allowed for people who only registerd and don't start 365project!
