One of the numerous things I love about Tookapic is how going out and grabbing my camera leads me to the most unusual adventures and encounters. Adventures and encounters that would never, ever have been possible without this crazy challenge.
In the past week, I got to know a little tribe of friendly wild ducks who jumped out of the water to greet me. A particularly curious and courageous one came close enough to nearly poke my objective resulting in this: tookapic.com/photos/158747
Today, as I was standing on a bridge and setting up my gorilla pod to catch the dusk in long exposure (tookapic.com/photos/160514), a car suddenly stopped next to me. Inside, a man who opened his window asking me if I was alright. He had thought I was tying a cord to jump off the bridge... Seeing my camera, he was quickly reassured that I was in fact celebrating the joy of life and shooting pictures. After driving on, he doubled back and told me: "You know, I thought you were going to jump. Most people would not give a damn, but I do!". Gave me back some faith in humankind and reminded me how little things make a big difference!
Thanks Tookapic :-)
papaya You have opened my eyes and heart to the beauty of the world, the beauty of everyday life. Yes indeed the commitment to do the daily photos and choose only one, not only teaches man to take pictures but transforms the human. I'm here for two weeks and although sometimes I get upset that I'm such a coarse student, I see it as every day (most ordinary, most poor in the lack of time) is an adventure and the promise of adventure. Praise everyday;-)
papaya I'm sorry, I do not know how it sounds. I do not know the language and I use Google Translator.
jewels It sounds fine! Welcome to Tookapic :-)
Jola I had a similar moment. I did a photo of sunrise ("123. Sunrise"). I turned around and saw a man who was watching me. Get very freaked out because I was alone. He thought that I want to drown and watched me. He was late for fishing. The fishermen put out into the Lake at 5 am.
agnieszka bladzik I have similar situation with this photo: "industrial" some old people started to argue that this strategic object and they will call police if i will be doing photos, they talked to security as well, but i was already far away. In this case "disembowel" guy was laughing that he will be famous. I asked this girl "flower crown" if I can take a photo and she was surprised but she agreed
jewels That's too bad... There are indeed people looking at us weirdly as well :-(
Satoshi T I also stopped by the security guard when I took a picture of the "Staircase hunter was hunted", I was confronted severely. Then for a while, I am afraid to go there.

Personally I don't have such dramatic adventures when taking photos even if I'm emotionally attached to some of them.
But Tookapic is my one big special moment. Why?
I have a depression.
Taking photos is a part of my therapy and Tookapic helps me much with motivating me to take another photo. To dress up and leave home searching for something to "shoot". Every good photo is my special moment.
For about two months I no longer take my drugs. Thanks to photography and thanks to Tookapic.
So, thank you Paweł. You are doing great job!

It means a lot to me.
Margie Good for you on your progress. I am glad for you.
Jule I have a similar story but with panic attacks, Tookapic shows me I've survived another day and it wasn't that bad at all. I hope your recovery is going well :)
jewels Strange world we live in where people get freaked out by the simplest things... Happy you also had cool tookapic moments :-)
jewels Too bad! Industrial espionnage of a staircase... ridiculous! The picture turned out great thankfully :-)
