photo view vs. likes (vs. profile views)

The statistics (hero feature) shows me that the amount of photo views is about 3 times higher than the number of likes. That's strange, because when I newly upload a pic it is the opposite in the beginning... (can be seen in the top ten pics). I think that real users usually like the pics on the main page and only open them if they are really interested. So I ask myself who the other observers are... robots (google...)? Or do I have secret fans that come back to the same pic again and again? ...? The amount of profile views seems to be more realistic. Do you observe the same?

Magda Korzewska Jazzie , are your pictures on stock? You might have a lot of views than.

jazzie This might be a reason! But I sold only 2 pics yet and have tenthousands of views...

Magda Korzewska I have some pictures with thousand views as well. Those are from stock in curated group with free download. If they have more than 100 downloads someone had to view it as well.

Katrina Yu The Internet is divided into three main groups when it comes to the type of viewers:

Passive viewers- are people who will read, watch, or listen to, but nothing more. They won't like, share, upvote, rate, thumbs up, or comment. If the site doesn't have a view counter, you won't even know they were there. These account for around 95-99%

Active viewers- these are people that view and submit their opinion in the form of likes, ratings, etc. They don't want to offer criticism in any real sense, but are happy to click some button to say what they enjoyed. If no such button exists, they become indistinguishable from the passive viewers.

Interactors- these are the people who will comment. They will write their opinion and their views. These account for around 0.05% of people who actually saw what you produced.

I think if you can compare the number of views to the number of likes. It's usually 1–2 likes per 10s, 100s views, if that. Now compare the comments to the upvotes. It's usually 1–5 comments for every hundred upvotes.

So to have a higher amount of views than the number of likes I think is perfectly normal.

jazzie You are right. But I see that in the beginning (first few days), the amount of likes is much bigger than the amount of views (I have some pics from the last 2 weeks being in my top ten). After about 2 months, it is about the same number. And after half a year, when you think your pics have been forgotten, you find pics that have like 10 times more views than likes. That's interesting...!
