I am more and more interested in street photography. So far I took only 3 street photos. I also checked the laws in The Netherlands, country I live in. It basically is saying that I can take (and then post) photos of people as long a they are taken in the public space. There are some exceptions, of course, which I am not going into at the moment. Even though in the situations when I can by law take and post a photo with someone on that photo, sometimes people seem unhappy about it. It is up to me then to decide if I am still going to use that photo or not (even when I am allowed by law). My first photo was easy to post because it is difficult to recognize person on that photograph (tookapic.com/photos/394250). Second photo I took not so long ago was a different story... I took a photo of people sitting at the terrace, drinking coffee. There were a lot of people on the photo, but one really stood out. I could see, after I took the photo, that this lady realized what just happened and was unhappy about it. Because of few things that were happening around me, I did not approach her to talk about it. I did not even think about it. Even though pic itself wasn't perfect I really liked it because of her. I decided however not to post it, even though by law I could. I also decided what my approach will be. The third photo I took (tookapic.com/photos/496014) I simply showed to the guys that are on that photo and asked them if its okey with them to post it. It gives me better feeling, and it could be the way of promoting tookapic as well. My question is, what is your approach in the situations when you by law are allowed to use the photo you took, but you realize people on that photo are unhappy about the fact that you took a picture of them. I think it is happening sometimes to those of you who do street photography. I know it is also the best to take the photos without people realizing it, but I don't think it's always possible. I am asking only because I am curious, and maybe I can learn something from you guys, I do not say that my approach is the right one/the way to go. I am curios to hear from you.

Tomek Zimnocho You know my opinion: good street is when subject do not know that photo is being taken :). You can ask after, though. Someone, a while ago, even suggested Tookapic kind-of-business cards to help with that (and I think it was a good idea)
