Macbook Air

Hi,

I accidentally spilt orange juice over my 2012 13" MacBook Pro; I need to replace it ASAP.

Does anybody know how well lightroom works on a macbook air? I am wondering whether that is the best option for me, as that is all I run, literally; all my photos are backed up externally too; so space is not an issue.

Heard really mixed responses through google and wanted to know what the tookapic community think.

Thanks,

Chris

Ian Prince Hi Chris,
Sorry to hear about the accident with your MacBook Pro. I know how you feel, it's happened to me too!
I've had an early (circa 2011) MacBook Air before it died, and had no problems running iPhoto on it. Not Lightroom, admittedly, but probably similar in ressource usage.
Did you have a SSD in your MBP? If not you'll find having a SSD in a new Air so much faster!
Hope that helps.
Ian.

Chris It did have an SSD...it is off to the insurer tomorrow.

Not sure if it's worth claiming or not!

Paweł Kadysz I know @agnieszka used Lightroom on her Air.

Chris How do I get in touch?

Agnieszka I had no problems with Lightroom on my Air. :) If u have any specific questions let me know. ;)

Chris Thanks; do you edit RAW files?

Agnieszka Yup :) no problems with that as well.

Robert de Bock I've used the MacBook Air for quite some time now; it's more than sufficient.
I also do a lot of intense programming and testing, it's really capable; the only improvement with an MacBook Pro is the screen, with a much better resolution.

Chris Thank you; that's useful to know...my last mac book didn't have retina display so I wouldn't "miss" that function as it were...

Ian Prince Yeh, but once you've used a "Retina" display it's hard to go back ;) That said the Airs are great laptops :)

Chris All good;
Heard from insurance company today and they're sending me a new retina 13" by midday tomorrow! - insurance is worth it!
