Bruce Welcome to the USA :-) If you're able to, I recommend the "Constellations over the Canyon" talk that the park rangers give (nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/sr-...). They use a powerful green laser to point out the constellations.
Magda Korzewska Bruce thank you so much, I though about some astro photography here, but to be honest I was a bit scared to go on my own in the night. We stay one night in Olancha next to Death valley and sky looked just awesome. There still need to be reason to come back.

Magda Korzewska Indeed, we are eager to see most of highlights from south-west, I think a bit too much. I forgot I am not 30s any more. We are a bit tired but very happy what have seen already. Turism is so well organized here, we are impressed.

B-B Wanders I was privileged to live in Grand Canyon for nearly 4 months and this is absolutely extraordinary place on the Earth. Unfortunately didn't take a flight over it but had enough time to sitting on the rim and starring at green river.
Magda Korzewska this is fantastic to be there for such a long time. We just spent full day and I feel this was too little. I loved hiking along the rim as well as hop in hop off bus. This is so well organized.
