tookapic Design Update

Haven't looked around everything completely yet, but just want to say well done on the update - It's a lot more coherent and consistent, and it's looking great.

Paweł Kadysz Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. It'll take time to get used to, especially for the long-time users. But me and the team think the navigation is much better now.

We're still fixing some minor bugs here and there. But the rankings and your profile statistics should work fine now. Major bugs are pretty much fixed.

Aaron Just realised there's a blog post about it, hadn't noticed at first, my eyes skip over anything in that area of websites. Like I said though, it's great and seems logical. Keep it up!

Alek Jedliński The updates are great, keep up the good work. I do have one small "but"... For landscape photos, the heart is always in the bottom right corner. That way, I already know where it's going to appear when I hover my mouse over different pics. For vertical photos, it's in a different place. I know this is dictated by adjusting the name and icons to the right side of the pic, but it could just as well be adjusted to the left and still be consistent. Even more so, because the most important interactive element would be in the same place on each photo. Just an idea.

Nilson Menezes Today, some of my photos in my home page are upside down...

Aaron Notice the date :)

Aaron Now that the design update has been in effect for a while, I do have a little pet peeve - The ambiguity between the different category displays of users' photos.

Currently, there's:

Explore
- Photos
-- Popular
-- Editor's Choice
-- Recent
-- Liked

and

Home
- Recent
- Popular
Following
- Recent
- Popular
Discover
- Suggestions
- Debuts
- Critique

and an Activity section.

I'm not sure about others, but I'm definitely finding this a little confusing and unnecessarily complex, it doesn't feel natural. I still have no real natural feeling on how to get to 'Recent' (other than looking at what I see in this post), which is my preferred way to check the site. Is there any consideration for re-evaluating these menus?

Paweł Kadysz Actually, I had the same feeling. But since you all like the changes I didn't want to mess it up again. What you say does make sense. We'll be working on the navigation some more.

Paweł Kadysz We've changed the navigation to something we hope is much more intuitive now.

Aaron Excellent, already seems a lot better.
