Editing photo description and line breaks

Question to @Paweł and all experienced users. Is it impossible to add a plain line break to a photo description?

I have been separating paragraphs with two line breaks, as I often do. That works.

On this photo tookapic.com/photos/527666 I put song lyrics in the description, and they showed as one line on the published photo. I ended up adding / separators / to make it clear it's lyrics. Adding double line breaks would make no sense.

Is there no way to have your text show up with single line breaks?

P.S. When I go back to edit the description, it shows properly, with line breaks. But when I view the public view, the line breaks are gone. I assume you see the same.

ponzu P.S. It shows correctly in the app. I should specify that the line breaks are getting lost in Chrome on a Mac.

ponzu It's not exactly like that. I'm editing mode, I see the line breaks. In normal mode, I don't (except on the app).

If I add two line breaks in editing mode, I see two line breaks in the post. Like in this comment. I have not tried more than two.

Paweł Kadysz Single line breaks are not available in photo description. Some markdown formatting is available. But adding single line breaks should not be a problem. I will add it to the to-do list, just not at the very top ;)

ponzu Thanks, glad I'm not crazy.

Mikołaj Tookapic uses Markdown in photo descriptions, allowing you to add some simple formating using special syntax: beegit.com/markdown-cheat-shee....

Markdown ignores line breaks, but a double line break means a new paragraph. Paragraphs are separated and you can see it in the page with a posted image.

If you need a line break, though, put two spaces at the end of the line.
It
should
work
fine.

ponzu It may work fine in browser (I'll check), but in app it looks like two line breaks / paragraph breaks and it does not look good for, say, lyrics.

Mikołaj Well, you're right. There is extra space, lines are rendered as paragraphs. That's against the standard.

ponzu I have to make a correction. I am viewing this from Chrome app on iOS, not the Tookapic app. It must be quite a challenge to make text and the rest of the site render on all possible platforms.

ponzu Checked in Chrome on Mac, and your line breaks look like paragraph breaks (double space; not good). At this point I am not complaining, just gathering testing data for @Paweł and team.
