Scrolling when viewing photos

I'm really enjoying my time here so far. The one thing that kind of frustrates me though, is the experience of browsing other people's photos - specifically regarding "scrolling".

Maybe the best way to paint the picture is to explain how it works on Flickr where I did my last 365 project - I really like their photo browsing experience. You click to view a photo, and it fills the entire screen so that you can see the photo as big as possible on whatever screen you have, but does not make it any bigger than that - ie you can see the entire photo without scrolling. Then you either press the right arrow (on a computer) or swipe right (in the Android app) and view the next photo.

In contrast, with Tookapic, often I'll only see the top half of a photo, and have to scroll down to see the bottom half. I can't see the whole composition and consider the photo thoughtfully. It feels more like a Facebook feed where I'm scrolling through junk, not really thinking about what is in front of me... already thinking about what photo will be next up. The consequence is that I don't spend as much time considering each photo, taking it in properly and learning from it.

I still prefer Tookapic, it's really nice to have something specifically designed for a 365 project, and the ease of posting is great. But if you could maybe copy from Flickr's non-scrolling, photo-at-a-time browsing experience (even if it were an option rather than replacing the current method) - that would be awesome :)

Thanks, Dan

Lauren Huston I understand what you're saying there Dan and agree - it could completely change the viewing experience of the imagery. I'd put my hand up for this as an idea.
Welcome to Tookapic! Good to see another Australian. :)
