Hi guys, I've noticed a month ago that there is a red dot on my photos. I didn't have time to take a closer look so I simply edited it out, but now it seems I have a damaged pixel on the image sensor. I took a close look and there seems to be no dust on it. The dot is also visible when I took pics without the objective.
Have you ever had a situation like this? Is it dead? Can I buy a spare part and exchange it or must I buy a new camera altogether?
Anita Miszczyk Satoshi, you are my saviour! Thank you so much for this link, it helped! I won't need to edit out the pixel anymore. :)
Satoshi T Oh It's nice to hear it! I'm happy to have been able to help you out!😀

Satoshi T Hi Anita
The sensor is a key device of the camera, and I think it will cost expensive to replace the camera body to replace it.
The following site
thenewcamera.com/sony-a7-iii-s...
says to re mapping hot-pixels when setting the future date and restarting the camera. There are explanations by some video.
Imagining the algorithm, SONY's camera is programmed to do pixel mapping at regular time intervals. It is imagined that the operation of setting future time is to forcibly execute pixel mapping by excessively increasing the time since pixel mapping in the past.
That means
(1) the pixel mapping process will automatically run if you wait for a while
(2) If you set a date too far, there is a risk that the mapping process will not be performed even if a new hot pixel occurs in the meantime.
I don't know the cycle of pixel mapping, but I think it's better to try doing it in the future for months not for years.
Good luck!
