Hanna Gawrychowska I didn't become a professional photographer and I do not plan it, I am still learning, but I have become a photography geek for sure

Margie I am the same. People have pushed me to sell prints and cards, but I simply don't want to. :))

Kateli I'm not a professional photographer (I work as a primary school teacher at 75%) but I have started doing different photo sessions : studio sessions, maternity sessions, newborn babies, professional photos, outside sessions, couples sessions, etc
And I absolutely love each session. I get paid for them and my prices have slowly gone up. People refer friends of theirs. I have between 2 to 5 sessions each month.
I love to reach my clients expectations and I leave my creativity for self portraits and anything else that catches my eye. Oh ! And I take my camera with me everywhere every day !!

romanv I'm not a professional photographer, but back when I graduated from high school, I ended up getting a couple of clients via some friends. They mostly wanted me to take pictures of their families, which I did, and got enough overall positive feedback that those clients recommended me to more clients. At that time in my life I was focusing on other things, so I turned the offers down, but I imagine that's how most folks get into the 'professional' photography gig. To be honest, I'm glad to have photography as a personal creative outlet, but all the power to the people trying to make a living out of it!

I don't think you need fancy equipment to get started. Start small and grow by investing in yourself.
