Which camera for a USA tour?

I am planning to go on a 1-month tour around the US this September and I would like to keep my streak on tookapic alive. I am now wondering which camera should I choose for such a travel? I will be traveling with a travel agency, so I will be restricted to times and places chosen by the agency. As to the camera choice, I have three decent cameras now:

  • an almost pocket-sized Sony Nex 3n with a 55-210 mm lens, BUT without an EVF, which makes taking pics in the sun very difficult, as I don't see anything on the LCD display
  • a medium-sized Olympus OMD em-1 with 3 diff. lenses:12-40 mm being my main and favorite
  • a bigger and heavier Nikon D750 with a 50 mm lens and a 70-200 mm (very large)

Each of these have different sensors, but all take pictures in RAW, which allows me to edit them in Lightroom. I like the colours on the Sony, but I love the endless possibilities of the Olympus, but I also like the fact that the Nikon is a full-frame camera.

I can take only one camera (but I could try buying one or two more lenses).

Anyone could give me some advice?

Ian Prince Mmm, hard to pick when you have so many good options ;) If I had to choose only one body and lens, I'd go for the EM-1 and 12-40. Would be a perfect combo for about 95% of photos that I could imagine taking and an ideal quality/size ratio :) YMMV as the say :)

365 Shades of Calvados Thank you, I was starting to come to the same conclusion after analyzing all the pros and cons. This also leaves me with more space for a tripod and my battery backpack for the Olympus. :)
Now I just have to buy a right bag for all this equipment. I think someone just asked about a bag for an Olympus.

Grace Yes that was me! For an everyday bag that is. For a travel bag I have a lowepro flipside 10L bag, it's really great as a day pack and you can strap a tripod to the side. Plus I felt it was safe as noone can open the bag up when it's on your back, we put the passports and money in an inside pocket when we travelled around India. Plus with my omd there was enough room for other day to day essentials besides my camera and lenses..

Ian Prince Mmm, the lowepro flipside 10L looks like my kind of camera bag! Thanks Grace.

Joost van Halm I had a similar problem when going to the dolomites for climbing. I could choose between a Fuji X100 a Fuji X-Pro1 with an 18mm and a 35mm lens and a Nikon D300s with a range of lenses. I was going for the X100, but at the last moment decided for the X-Pro1 with only the 18mm. My thoughts were: am I going for the experience or photography? Climbing was the main goal and bieng in the mountains you want a view as wide as posible and the X-Pro1 answered the best. We had climbing backpacks and the camara was in a small pouch that I could take out and place on my belt if I neded to access it quickly. Think ahead what kind of places you want to visit and envision what pictures you want to take. Don't be afraid to take a little less with you! Most importantly: enjoy your trip!
