How is the photo date determined?

Just want to know how Tookapic determines the date for the uploaded photo. Is it the file date or the date in the metadata? I am asking because I took a photo yesterday but post processed it after midnight as I came from a family function. If the date comes from the file date then my streak is broken.

Paweł Kadysz We use the date photo was taken (from EXIF).

Paweł Kadysz There are some editing apps that overwrite "taken" date with the date you postprocessed a photo (which is a complete bs). I believe Snapseed does that on Android.

Artur Łobocki I'm using Snapseed. It doesn't overwrite date after postproseeding the photo.

Jennifer There's also usually a setting to turn that off and keep the original, though. For anyone using, these make sure to take a look and find that!!

GaaNamiko Właśnie coś takiego mi się przytrafiło, zdjęcie zrobione 4 lipca, edytowane po północy w smartfonie - zapis 5 lipca, no i mam już podróż w czasie zaliczoną :( szkoda.

Tomek Zimnocho don't worry, I've scored time bending and time travel in one photo. apparently on 1st of Jan 2005 I took a pic of a camera that was on sale from Jan 2008 ;). As long as you know when you took a photo it doesn't matter what numbers says :)
