If you're into data visualization and mathy approach to things, you're going to like the depth of field tool I made.
It's more than just another DoF calculator, because it shows you a graph of how sharp area changes when aperture, subject distance and focal length go up or down. You can even compare how sensor size affects it and see that it actually matters. Hopefuly playing around with it will help you understand the relation between all parameters that contribute to the depth of field.
This is an early version and it may still be a bit buggy. In case you encounter errors or have other feedback, please let me know.
I just hope this post is not considered self-promotional spam. Otherwise I'll remove it.
Ian Prince Neat! Thanks for sharing :)
Ian Prince ...and very useful for figuring out the best aperture for portraits :)
Mikołaj That's just diagonal from Wikipedia divided by 1500.
Nilson Menezes Very well done. Congrats.
Rafał Morawiec Nice work :)
vera Bravo! I am rather instinctive in my approach to dof, but perhaps it will change thanks to your tool! It seems very easy to understand and use! Thank you for sharing!
patison Good job, useful tool to better understand this topic
