I have spent some time today with wayback machine and... damn, maybe I'm getting old, but the previous version of tookapic suited me way better. Different profiles view, different photos view, and most of all - THIS COLOUR... Also - separate field for hashtags was way more motivating to fill them, tookapic.com/cameras was a wonderful idea (and I think it's gonna be the first thing to bring back, even though we all know, that what You take photos with is way less important than the fact You take them photos!) and....
that's my two cents on the issue. And What do You miss?
crybaby Very good question! I especially miss ~2017 community around tookapic, likes, comments, discussions and positive humanous energy was very motivating to be better photographer every day - now I feel like I'm in postapo city (yeah, there are some people left, but there are no true life in city). Maybe that's weird, but I also miss @Paweł as a user of tookapic. For me, he is still role model but his absence (not only on tookapic, but on 356 project) is very sad, and I think that's very symbolic that guy who created that portal, who had much positive energy - disappeared. (I know that's brutal reality, not his fault) :(
Urszula Stachowicz I agree! I miss his commitment, it was so contagious :(

vividcolourfabric Welp, I miss people but I know I'm not the best person to say this... 😉

This question is much harder than it seems on face value.
I understand why the number of likes on other photos are not displayed but I used to try and see why some photos were so popular. I realise that a users’s interaction has a lot to do with it.
Most of the time I am happy with my photos, but my images are never stunning. I’m just not that good, maybe stunning images are just not my style. But self discipline is under my control and to be honest I miss the tables showing most number of photos, longest streak etc. I am proud of my streak, but I have no idea if there are 5 or 50 people with longer ones. I know it doesn’t matter but it interested me and I found it motivating.
I agree old layout was more “ inviting”. Cannot remember green?
Kazzi green <3
tigg Sorry not quite sure what you mean ......?
jazzie The buttons where green before they turned violet. I don't remember anything else about the old versions but this 😅
tigg Ah ..... the colour of the button is not mega important to me. Whoops!
Kazzi it's just that I prefer to spend more time seeing colour I prefer over the one I find ugly :D
120mr tookapic.com/talks/598-a-place... especially for you :P

Okay, my thought:
- bigger photos, with gear used underneath and then comments, now with the comments section to the right photos are way smaller. I don't like it.

agnieszka bladzik I kind of miss the "main page", where you have a feed of photos on one side, and featured work, photo of the day, some community/talks/blog summary on the other side.
Current set up does not engage me, it's like scrolling Instagram or google photo page, you scroll scroll and scroll and barely ever I click on a photo to see if someone wrote sth there etc.
I liked the green better as well ;)
overall I missed community and engagement the most
