Summer feature request thread
We've got couple of new things coming, like private projects, activity feed and few secret, but awesome features.
But we're open for suggestions. If you have a feature request that would add a great amount of value to tookapic - let me know in this thread. Besides listing the features, tell us why you think that particular feature would be a good idea.

Paweł Kadysz I think tweaks to galleries feature will solve that problem. Right now you can only create galleries from your own photos. We plan to allow users to add any photo to a gallery they create.
So for example, you'll be able to create "Pawel's good photos" gallery and add my photos to that gallery. Sounds good?
Satoshi T Yes, it is very nice. I can collect other members pics which I have interest. On the other hand, You think current tags are enough to search pic from Tookapic-stock?
Satoshi T I feel like you and I did a similar dialogue before. Do I misunderstand about the function of tag?
120mr It would be nice to change gallery sequence. The new galleries are on the top and I think I can do nothing with this now.

How About a "Random" selection in the "Photos" Section?
The problem is this all the ones at the moment all start with the latest photos. This means that very few of the older photos get looked at. This only gets worst the more photos a user uploads. In my experience it seems very few people search back through more than two of three pages, even if they really like your work.
To address this how about a selection that takes photos from any profile and any date. Puts them together and shows them.
To clarify you will still have the pages of photos as they are now but it would be populated with photos of anyone and anywhere in the database at random.
This would give new life to past photos, give another chance to showcase users work and show photos that other users might like but never get to see.

FlyteWizard Feature Request: Have the weekly theme checkbox be according to the users timezone. Often I submit my photo on Sunday, to already have the next weekly theme be the checkbox.

Satoshi T Portrait framing -Vertical photo- 's display resolution. When I browse in Tookapic, the Landscape framing image feels high resolution, but Portrait framing photo looks somewhat dull...

Kazzi indeed! When I looked for tookapicers from Cracow, all I could search was "krakow" or "cracow" tag, but not many people tag photos in a good way, also - not everyone from Cracow takes photos of the city ;)

FlyteWizard Be able to add what camera it was taken with on older pictures.
E.I. In the past you were able to post with iPhone, but no camera data was submitted. That left these photos as "Unknown", but it would be nice to be able to change those "Unknown" to iPhone or something.
This would only be for photos with unknown.
Because sometimes it was because you uploaded with iPhone or because you modified your picture and the exif was lost by accident.
Romanos Kalamatianos When adding location to a photo it would be nice to be able to add coordinates and maybe a custom label if the place doesn't exist on google maps

Menu when we use mobile device.
When I use Computer, I can select Photos,Explore,Community... menu. On the mobile device, when I select "Photos", I can select Following,Popular,Recent...by pull down menu. But other menu is only direct access to Weekly-theme or Talks. I want Explore and Community with sub menus like as Photos when I use mobile devices.

I'd like to congratulate all the Tookapikers who are ending a year of pics, unfortunately I haven't time to see all the profile to know who finish every day. It could be an idea to put a little sign on the 365th or 730th or 1095th of a profile photo. Is it possible?
Or perhaps to make a new menu "ending a year today".

Michał Retrospective view. It'd rather targeted to those who've completed their whole year at tookapic and the idea is pretty simple: at this view you'd see a photo that was taken by you exactly one year ago. What is more, you'd see other pics from that day. Those you've liked in particular or the ones that were the most popular. I think it might be a component in the feed you're working on.
One small catch though - February 29th ;)

Paweł Kadysz No, these photos are sorted by how much a photo matches the color you selected.
Michał How about small usability improvement in photo browsing? Currently when you open a pic to read its description, the next/previous arrows makes you scroll other photos from that person. Now I'd like to scroll pics depending from where I entered. For example after opening the most recent in the Featured view I could scroll through the remaining ones - without returning to the thumbnails. Let's say it's something like "contex-aware scrolling".

But have the option to have it black or white depending on the theme you choose (dark or light).

Magda Korzewska On top of your ideas I would like to add one more. Voteing on weekly theme photo. Maybe Paweł can add different sign which can be given once a week just to one photo from WT? Only valid Monday-Friday next week. Voting should be in secret and reviled on Saturday. The winning photo could be the cover of the gallery. In addition this person would chose the next weekly theme. It will help Paweł and he could enjoy sunday evening instead of thinking about next WT.
bartosz palus Would be awesome to have possibility of choosing different background color, when you upload your photo. Some of the pictures looks way better on black, or gray background
Marcin K. I have tried to search talks for some phrases. It looks like the search goes through the body of the main (first) post, but does not catch anything in the replies (comments). Have you considered a feature, that enables to search over the comments in talk section? Is it easily doable with your current implementation?
Paweł Kadysz 2. That's how it works right now. Besides that we also show new pics in weekly themes and new debuts.

Satoshi T Tag editing by Hero member : A good picture that will be searched if tagged is buried because there is no tag by the author. If the author arrow, other Hero member can add/edit tag.
