Weekly Themes - Harder to Participate in Themes with New Format
Ever since themes are no longer present on the upload page, it's harder to participate in them. I didn't even realize the last two themes. :/
Might just be me, but I would prefer a reminder on the upload page, but still have to manually type in the tag to avoid abuse.
Or have an announcement on the feed page.
Idk, what do you guys think? Or what fave you guys experienced?
I've already had a lot of trouble with themes (starting on Monday and not Sunday, Ending theme submission even when I still have a day left to upload, because of timezones), but this is just another hurdle that makes it not viable to participate.
Krzysztof Maciejewski Yes, I expierienced similar problems. For example - tagging picture in app with theme-something makes no effect - you still have to remember to add this tag on website, otherwise you would not participate...
Marcin K. in mobile app on Android -- is the checkbox still there? You can still use it if it is there. As long as there was no recent update in the app, you should be able to do that.

Krzysztof Maciejewski Yes, it is there. Yet putting the cross on it sometimes is not enough - loging on website afterwards I have found that tag #theme wasn't added.
Gosia I don't miss the checkbox but thanks to it I knew what the theme was. Now it's harder to find, I have to go to the Themes page which I don't do everyday. Or is there a easier way to find out what's the new theme? Anyway, I would love to receive a notification about it or find some info on the Feed page. Now I think about it, it would be nice to have some news posts on the feed, like about the best photos from the last week theme.
Paweł Kadysz The theme is always visible on tookapic.com/themes and the link to that page is in the main menu. Why would you check it every day if it only changes once a week? :)
Gosia I just want to know on Monday what the theme is, like effortlessly you know? :)
Jan Buchta Yes. I agree with Dominique. It's harder to remember about weekly tag. It was more useful when we could use checkbox while we uploading the photo.
tigg If you are keen to participate in the weekly theme, it should be easy to check just once in 7 days. It does not mean you have to put up a themed photograph every day of course.
littlehuman I don't think so the lack of a checkbox is such a big problem. Yes, we have to make more moves to add a photo to the weekly theme, but it's ok. The presence of a checkbox brought more problems than benefits for Tookapic. Now it's enough to look at the top of the page to remind yourself of the weekly theme, because "themes" is added as a tab, you don't need to extend any lists to see this item. For me this is a subtle reminder ;)
Bartłomiej Jacak To be honest since that checkbox was removed I also missed some weekly themes. I think that an announcement on the feed page (for e.g. on monday) would be a good reminder and it wouldn't cause so many not theme-associated photos.
agnieszka bladzik i think small box with "current weekly theme" would be good, or in the feed where you see the last photos from weekly theme - it could say the theme as well
agnieszka bladzik i see it, but it's kind of mandatory for me to go trough weekly theme photos twice a day as i run instagram feed for tookapic ;p - it's for others

Paweł Kadysz This was done on purpose. Whe the „add to weekly theme” checkbox” was present on the upload page we had a lot of „accodental clicks” resulting in hundreds of photos having nothing to do with actual theme. This became such an absurd problem that we had more unrelated pics being added than the actual themed photos.
Eversince we removed the checkobx the problem disappeared.
A subtle reminder is perhaps ok.
